Roberto L. Nicolia is the 2010-11 Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute Chairman
For years, the bread and butter of companies manufacturing and installing segmental concrete pavement systems has been the residential market. But in 2010-2013 strategic planning meetings held in 2008, the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) acknowledged that in order to survive the current economic climate—a downturn greatly fueled by residential contraction—expansion into commercial, institutional, municipal and industrial markets was crucial to survival.

Lindenhurst, NY – Moving forward with its growth strategy, Hastings Pavement Company LLC, a manufacturer of innovative concrete paving and architectural products, has signed an exclusive sales and manufacturing agreement with Reading Rock, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio to manufacture and sell Checker Block in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and portions of West Virginia.

Bradstone International announces that they have licensed Nicolock Paving Stones & Retaining Walls to manufacture and distribute their line of products in the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic United States.

In June of 2010, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came to Long Island to help a family in need, and Nicolock stepped up to lend a hand.  Nicolock pavers and wall products were donated to the very worthy family to construct their new home’s walkways, patio, and pool deck.

In crowded urban areas, all of the buildings and pavement can create unusually warm conditions because so many dark-colored roofs and pavements absorb solar radiation. Many of Nicolock's unit concrete pavers can provide reflective surfaces that reduce what is known as the urban heat island effect. Light colored pavers can reduce this heat island effect and as a result, save energy demands from air conditioning.
